ACCESS DRIVES
The access drives to a retail development will have the most profound impact on the daily lives of those who live near the intersection of Willow and Pfingsten.
Full access on Willow and full access on Pfingsten - Cars can enter and exit in and out from any direction.
Pfingsten
Turning left from Plaza Del Prado will be increasingly challenging because Pfingsten will be re-striped, eliminating the yellow-striped area often used by left turners to pause before entering southbound Pfingsten.
Traffic backup in Plaza Del Prado will occur due to Pfingsten congestion.
Cars that go straight across Pfingsten from one mall to the other will cross at least 5 lanes of traffic
Willow
Cars will turn left from Willow into development and from development left onto Willow
Relying on courtesy of other drivers to let cars through will be required.
According to Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), "Where curb-cut access is allowed along a suburban SRA route, it is preferable that only right-in and right-out turns be permitted. This willprevent left-turn movements onto the SRA across through traffic lanes."
A right-in/right-out on Willow is beneficial for Willow traffic but will put an excessive burden on Pfingsten traffic
Westbound drivers would likely use Miller Dr to go west to Landwehr.
Due to challenges of westbound drivers making a left on Pfingsten, cars might turn south on Pfingsten, use Miller Drive (east of Pfingsten) to turn around to go north on Pfingsten and turn west on Willow.
Cut-through traffic on Miller would increase
Chaotic driving patterns could ensue
A RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT WOULD NOT REQUIRE ACCESS ON WILLOW OR ON PFINGSTEN
